Where has the Compassion Gone?

I look around the world and I see all kinds of doubtful things. I see starvation, cruelty, hatred, discrimination, fear. I see death, and disease, and famine and yet I see no one doing a thing about it. Has humanity fallen so far that it can't even stop to think about another. Is the point to life to only care about one's self; to fill your needs and not another's?

Shouldn't humans, as the intelligent being, show some responsibility for the rest of the world? If we're so smart and powerful than shouldn't we be using our strengths to help the helpless? Shouldn't we care about another being, whether it be human or not? Shouldn't we cherish the lives on this earth as if they had a purpose or meaning, as if they had feelings and emotions?

Shouldn't we show a little compassion?
